The Finatics have provided one of the most enduring gathering places in Miami Dolphins tailgating since 1992.  What began as a small group of coworkers from a South Florida software company gradually developed into a community that has welcomed generations of Dolphins fans through changing teams, changing stadium names, and changing eras of football.  Their familiar meeting place in the East parking lots at Hard Rock Stadium remains marked by the Finatics flag, a landmark recognized by longtime members and first-time visitors alike.  While the surroundings have evolved over the years, the purpose has remained remarkably consistent: gather early, share a great meal, talk Dolphins football, and enjoy the company of friends.

The experience is built around relationships that have matured over decades.  Conversations move easily between memories of Don Shula and Dan Marino, debates over the current roster, and anticipation for the next kickoff.  Newcomers quickly discover they are not entering a private gathering, but joining a circle that has always valued conversation as much as football itself.  A local beer is offered before introductions are finished, opinions are exchanged as freely as recipes, and visitors often find themselves returning to the same spot game after game until they become part of the tradition themselves.

The Finatics have always believed that a memorable tailgate deserves memorable food.  Their menus rarely settle into routine.  One Sunday may feature fresh seafood, lobster tails, and local fish, while another centers on thick steaks, slow-cooked ribs, or a traditional whole pig roast reflecting the Cuban influences woven throughout South Florida.  Dave Buchler, Gino Vitale, Alan, Glenn, Laz, Bryan, Chris, Bob, Bob, Jay, and the rest of the crew treat every gathering as an opportunity to outdo the previous week without losing sight of the reason everyone came together in the first place.  The meal creates the setting, but the friendships remain the centerpiece.

Those friendships eventually extended beyond the parking lot.  In 1997 the group launched Finatics.com, creating one of the earliest online homes for Dolphins fans anywhere on the internet.  Originally born from their parking lot location as E12.com, the site evolved into a place where fans could debate games, celebrate victories, endure disappointing seasons together, and preserve the stories that make Dolphins fandom unique.  Years before social media connected supporters around the world, the Finatics had already built an online community that reflected the same welcoming spirit found beneath their tailgate tents.  The site later became an officially recognized fan website of the Miami Dolphins while maintaining the independent voice that had always defined it. 

Few fan groups have witnessed as much change while remaining so familiar.  The stadium has carried a succession of different names, parking lots have shifted, and new generations of fans have discovered the tradition, yet the Finatics have continued to gather in much the same way they always have.  Their unofficial philosophy captures that perspective perfectly: "No matter what happens on the field, we will always have the tailgate." It is less a slogan than a reminder that friendships can outlast winning streaks, losing seasons, and every other change football inevitably brings.

The Finatics earned their place in the Tailgating Hall of Fame because they represent something increasingly rare in professional sports: a tradition built on consistency rather than spectacle.  For more than three decades they have given Dolphins fans a place where the conversations never really end, the welcome is always genuine, and every new season begins with familiar faces gathered beneath the same flag.  Their legacy is not measured by a signature recipe or a single tradition, but by their unwavering commitment to preserving one of South Florida's longest-standing communities of Dolphins fans.
