Learn More About Our Tailgate

In a town where football isn't just a game but a way of life, it takes something truly special to stand out on a Green Bay Packers gameday. That “something” is the Lambeaulance, a converted 1985 Ford ambulance that has become a rolling symbol of Packer passion, Wisconsin hospitality, and tailgating creativity. Parked just steps from the historic Lambeau Field at 1310 Lombardi Ave, the Lambeaulance tailgate is the brainchild of longtime Packers fans Justin Batzler and Ted Blatz, who transformed a retired emergency vehicle into a community-focused celebration of everything that makes gamedays in Green Bay unforgettable.

The Lambeaulance tailgate isn’t about size or flash—it’s about heart. From the moment the back doors swing open and the first lawn chair hits the pavement, a friendly, small-town vibe fills the air. This is a family-style potluck where you’re treated like a regular, even if it’s your first visit. Whether you’re a die-hard cheesehead or a traveling NFL fan just checking Lambeau off your bucket list, you’ll find a warm welcome, cold beer, and a seat by the fire. The guest list might start with 20 or 30, but by kickoff, it’s not unusual for the party to swell with friendly faces and new friendships.

What sets this tailgate apart is its fun-first, inclusive energy. The Lambeaulance crew has thought of everything. There’s cornhole, giant drunk Jenga, Hammerschlagen, NFL Blitz on a Nintendo 64, and the ever-popular Lambeau Derby—a half-time “horse race” that’s as ridiculous as it is beloved. Everyone’s encouraged to bring their favorite appetizer or dish, but if you show up empty-handed, don’t worry. There’s always enough food to go around, and donations are welcome to help keep the good times rolling. And while there’s no shortage of Wisconsin beer on hand (shoutout to Badger State Brewing and Stillmank Brewing), the real stars of the beverage scene are Brittaney’s syringe-style Jell-O shots and the legendary Blatz Apple Pie Shot, served off a massive 9-person ShotSki.

Despite the occasional adult beverage-fueled hijinks, this is very much a family-friendly tailgate. Kids, grandparents, and even four-legged fans are welcome to be part of the fun. There’s a charming honesty in how this crew balances rowdy entertainment with true Midwestern hospitality—proof that you can throw one heck of a party without losing the warmth and values that make Wisconsin great. Even the Jell-O shots have non-alcoholic versions, because nobody should feel left out of the tradition.

When kickoff nears, the Lambeaulance crew doesn't scatter for the stadium gates. Many stay behind, watching the game on a flat screen mounted to the back of the Lambeaulance. From this cozy corner of Lombardi Avenue, you can still hear the crowd's roar, feel the rumble of fireworks after a touchdown, and soak up the magic of Lambeau without ever leaving the parking lot. It’s a uniquely Green Bay experience—a backyard party in the shadow of NFL greatness.

Justin and Ted have carried forward the legacy of the Lambeaulance with care and pride. Originally converted by a previous owner, the vehicle already had a storied tailgating past. But since acquiring it in 2018, the duo has poured their time, talent, and spirit into turning it into something more: a traveling shrine to Packers fandom and a community gathering point for all who bleed green and gold. Their dedication earned them a well-deserved spot in the Tailgating Hall of Fame in December 2020, and their tailgate continues to inspire others throughout the league.

Tailgating in Green Bay is unlike anywhere else in the NFL, and the Lambeaulance crew exemplifies why. It's not just the bratwurst and beer or the frozen breath in the crisp Wisconsin air. It's the sense of belonging, the shared traditions, and the understanding that gameday is about more than just the game. It's about gathering. It's about stories. It's about family—new and old.

So if you find yourself near Lambeau Field on a Sunday morning, follow the smell of sizzling sausages and the sound of laughter to 1310 Lombardi Ave. The Lambeaulance will be there, waiting, sirens off and tailgate lights on—ready to welcome you into the fold.
