Created in 1998, the Battle Wagon stakes its claim as the ultimate tailgating vehicle with an impressive array of options that makes any tailgater “purple” with envy.
Our founders Terry, Doug, TJ , and Michael, developed the main concept for the Battle Wagon
while huddled around a camp fire, tailgating in the Washington Avenue Parking Lot.
The Battle Wagon was built from a 1966 Chevy Step van that was
completely restored. The exterior of the vehicle is painted in Viking
purple and gold with hand painted custom graphics. The roof of the
vehicle has been outfitted with a mobile satellite dish, marine-grade
all-weather speakers, and a set of purple colored Federal Signal
revolving lights. On the front of the truck are yellow strobe lights, a
pair of steer horns on the hood, and flashing purple fog lights to
complete the exterior overhaul. Moving to the interior, we find the
customized elements that truly make this vehicle the ultimate mobile
mancave. Borrowing the interior stylings of a cozy furnished den, the
inside
walls of the Battle Wagon feature a high quality wood paneled finish
accented by an all-weather AstroTurf floor. A fully functional gas
fireplace was built over one wheel well while a comfortable couch sits
directly across from it on the other. An easy chair,
affectionately known as "Grandma's Chair" in honor of the late Laura
Moravec (1900-2000), is positioned on one side of the fireplace, with a
flat screen LED television on the other. The entire interior is
decorated in honor of Viking greats with photos and memorabilia
featuring Fran Tarkenton, Fred Cox, and Mick Tinglehoff, as well as more
contemporary stars such as, Cris Carter, Randy Moss, and Josh Freeman.
The front of the truck houses the command center with controls for the
satellite dish, exterior lights, and sound system. This, truly is, the Ultimate
Tailgating Vehicle.
